Chowchilla Western Stampede

April 6-10, 2011

Chowchilla Western Stampede LogoFor over fifty years in Chowchilla, the Western Stampede has been the traditional grand prix roping event in all the area. There are several activities to enjoy throughout the five day run. A cattle drive through town, roping and barrel racing events plus plenty of concessions are all part of the Western Stampede experience. The roping events are highly competitive for participants and immensely exciting for spectators during the annual April stampede week.

Stampede Cattle Drive Down Robertson Blvd in ChowchillaCattle Drive

A real cattle drive runs right through the main street of the city and then on to the fairgrounds. This drive initiates the official start of the Stampede festivities and celebrates the long ago traditions of western life. The cattle that you'll see running down Robertson Boulevard are the actual cattle that will be used for competition. The participants driving the cattle are the Stampede competitors, local cowboys, cowgirls and cattle ranchers.
